If you searched TK Nguyen entrepreneur, GAM Esports CEO, or Vietnamese-American business leader in Southeast Asia, welcome.

This is the beginning of a new chapter, and a reintroduction.

I’m TK Nguyen, a Vietnamese-American entrepreneur, investor, and media builder focused on one mission:

To use esports, media, and storytelling to unite and inspire the next generation in Vietnam and across Southeast Asia.

I’m not here to just play the GAMe.
I’m here to change the GAMe.

Born Between Two Worlds (1983: San Diego, California)

I was born in San Diego to immigrant parents from Vietnam.

Growing up between cultures shaped everything about how I think and build. At home, I learned discipline, resilience, and respect. Outside, I absorbed ambition, creativity, and independence.

For years, I didn’t fully feel proud of being Vietnamese or Asian. That changed when I moved to Vietnam in 2014.

Building on the ground here forced me to reconnect with identity and I realized something powerful:

Culture is not a limitation. It’s leverage.

From Hollywood to Vietnam: Learning the Power of Attention

In my early career, I built in entertainment and nightlife in Hollywood. I worked with artists, celebrities, and global brands, eventually becoming a Hennessy Ambassador with Moët Hennessy, the only Asian-American representing the brand at that level at the time.

It looked like nightlife.

But what I was really learning was:

  • How attention works
  • How community forms
  • How media shapes culture

Those lessons would later define everything I built in Southeast Asia.

The One-Way Ticket (2014: Nha Trang, Vietnam)

In 2014, I bought a one-way ticket to Vietnam.

No backup plan. Just belief.

That leap led to the creation of Skylight Nha Trang, Vietnam’s first rooftop beach club.

Over the next decade:

  • 2.2+ million guests
  • A cultural landmark in Nha Trang
  • A new standard for nightlife and tourism experiences

But the most important lesson wasn’t about hospitality.

It was about teamwork.

There’s a proverb that says:

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

Skylight went far because we went together, operators, creatives, investors, partners, staff, and community.

That belief would shape everything that came next.

The Pandemic Reset: From Entertainment to Esports

When the pandemic shut down nightlife globally, everything I had built paused overnight.

I had to ask myself:

Am I here to entertain for one night…
or build something that lasts for a generation?

That question led me to esports.

In 2021, I stepped into GAM Esports under GAM Entertainment.

Many saw risk.

I saw opportunity.

The global gaming industry is worth over $184 billion. Esports is its professional stage. But more importantly, esports is youth culture at scale.

GAM competes internationally in League of Legends, representing Vietnam on the global stage. But to me, esports is bigger than competition.

It’s:

  • National identity
  • Youth empowerment
  • Global visibility for Southeast Asia
  • A platform for belief

We are not here just to play the game.

We are here to change the GAMe, by raising standards, building discipline, and showing young people in Vietnam that they belong among the world’s best.

Culture + Media: The Real Strategy

Esports is the platform.
Media is the multiplier.
Culture is the outcome.

Today, my work spans multiple sectors across Southeast Asia, all connected by culture-building.

I invest in companies like:

  • East West Brewery Co. — building community through Vietnamese craft beer.
  • NUEN Moto — reimagining electric mobility for the region.
  • TicTag — leveraging AI and data to power smarter businesses.

I also host GĀM Changers, where I sit down with entrepreneurs, creators, and high performers to explore the identity shifts and turning points behind sustained success.

Because if we control the narrative, we shape the culture.

And if we shape the culture, we shape the future.

Why Esports and Media Matter for Vietnam

Vietnam has one of the youngest populations in Asia. It has deep gaming culture, strong digital adoption, and rising global ambition.

Esports and digital media are not trends, they are economic drivers.

They impact:

  • Advertising and Gen Z engagement
  • Tourism and global events
  • Technology infrastructure
  • Creative industries
  • National brand perception

If developed intentionally, esports can become one of Vietnam’s major cultural exports.

This moment is not random. It’s a turning point.

I Can’t Do This Alone

Movements are not built by one person.

Skylight wasn’t.
GAM isn’t.
Southeast Asia’s rise won’t be.

If you want to go fast, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.

I’m building platforms that connect operators, creators, investors, brands, and believers.

Because this mission is bigger than me.

It’s about giving the next generation of Vietnamese and Southeast Asian builders a blueprint, and then building something even greater together.

The Mission

I am building at the intersection of:

  • Media & storytelling
  • Youth culture
  • AI-native businesses
  • Southeast Asia growth

But the identity is simple:

I build culture. I build media. I build belief.

If you are building in esports, media, investing, or Southeast Asia’s global future, I’m always open to meaningful conversations.

We’re not here to just play the GAMe.

We’re here to change it.
