Why Vietnam Esports Matters Globally
Esports today is more than gaming. It’s culture, community, and the fastest-growing entertainment industry on the planet. Globally, gaming generates $184B annually, bigger than film and music combined. Esports, the professional layer of gaming, is where skill turns into entertainment, and entertainment becomes cultural export.
For Vietnam Esports, the opportunity is massive. With over 30 million gamers and the third-largest League of Legends fanbase worldwide, our country sits at the heart of Southeast Asia’s “Next Rising Billion”, the youngest, most digital-native generation on earth.
That’s why I believe Vietnam doesn’t just belong in global esports. We’re ready to lead it.
The Story of GAM Esports
When I became CEO of GAM Entertainment, the vision wasn’t just to build a winning team. It was to create a cultural movement that could represent Vietnam on the world stage.
- SEA Games 31, Hanoi: GAM delivered Vietnam’s first-ever gold medal in esports. Parents in the front row watched their kids make history for the nation.
- Worlds 2022, Madison Square Garden: After our upset victory, the crowd erupted in chants of “G-A-M!” For me, as a Vietnamese-American kid, seeing Vietnam inspire the world on that stage was surreal.
- LCP Weekend Finals 2025, Da Nang: Our mission now is to stand shoulder to shoulder with the LCK and LPL, and carry that momentum straight to Worlds in China.
Today, GAM is more than a team. With 11x VCS titles, SEA Games gold, and partnerships with FPT, Vietjet, Monster Energy, and Logitech, GAM Esports has become Vietnam’s most iconic esports brand.
Esports as Vietnam’s Next Cultural Export
Just as K-pop became Korea’s global export and anime became Japan’s, I believe esports can be Southeast Asia’s breakout cultural export, with Vietnam at the center.
Why? Because esports flips the script. In traditional sports, we’ve always been the underdog. But in esports, reflexes, strategy, and teamwork matter more than physical attributes. Every time Captain Levi and GAM win, it proves Vietnam belongs.
And it’s bigger than competition. Esports is uniting Vietnam’s youth the way football united past generations. Today, Vietnamese fans spend more time watching esports than soccer. GAM is becoming more than a team, we’re an identity, a source of pride, and a platform to inspire the next generation.
Our Vision at GAM Entertainment: Rise As One
At GAM Entertainment, esports is just the starting point. Our vision blends:
- Esports: championship-caliber teams built to win.
- Media: storytelling through content, film, and podcasts like GAM Changers.
- Lifestyle: merchandise, events, and experiences that connect with Vietnam’s youth culture.
Our mission is simple: unite and inspire the next generation through Esports Entertainment. Vietcetera’s mantra “Bringing the world to Vietnam, and Vietnam to the world” mirrors what we’re building every day. Together, we’re shaping Vietnam’s next global export.
